Meeting Minutes
January 8,2007
Present: Joanne, John, Beth, Rhea, Lyn, Sue, Jeff, Michelle, Carol, Mary, Terry, Martin, Laura, Ann C., Marie, Rita, Francine.
Meeting opened at 6:35 with the Serenity Prayer.
We read Tradition One and Concept One.
Chair asked who had the sign-in sheet on their computer. Sue said Linda has it. Chair sad she would type it up if it doesn't appear before next month.
Chair/Vice Chair Report: none.
Treasurer Report: none. Rhea said that we do not yet have '07 budget. Draft and Review Process may not have yet begun.
Corresponding Secretary's Report: none. Martin received many checks which he will give to Frank.
Archivist's Report: none.
Roll Call.
Soft Literature Report: $75 of lit. bought for rent. $445 worth of literature brought to placeMarathon.
Hard Literature Report: Mostly Voices of Recovery sold at placeMarathon. Will get ATM card for Hard Literature account.
Professional Outreach: 68 professional letters, marathon flyers and meeting lists. Sue has copies.
Prof. Outreach is TV, radio, news, Penny Saver, etc.
Channel 4 asked to come to intergroup? The answer was “no” according to our 11th Tradition. They were told that an interview with Mary would be OK - in process.
Meeting list/Newsletter: $40.95 spent for copies for placeMarathon.
We are missing the Monday 7am meeting information. They are possibly registering through World Service?
World Service: Jeff filled out the registration and sent in the registration fee.
placeMarathon: Preliminary report:
135 members and 3 newcomers attended. 3 pre. registered members did not show?
$1,493 collected so far; $241 in expenses; 36 surveys received.

12th Step Within Report: All are encouraged to put Welcome Back packets and 12th Step Within pamphlets out at meetings for this time of year.
Fundraising: T-Shirts: For 2006 we started with 120, sold 66. We sold a couple at the placeMarathon. We made $292.50 profit.
Website: Dan not present.
He had his laptop at the placeMarathon to show our website and announcements
He is also filling out paper work to register at Region? for PI Blitz.
Phone: Sent out 3 meeting lists; had 1 call from the media; had 1 professional call.
Umbrella Committee: Did not meet in December.
They will be meeting the last Wednesday of the month from now on at 7pm for an hour at the Church of the Atonement in placeCityWestfield.
Old Business: Discussion regarding new groups and reaching out to the Black and Hispanic communities (as well as other low represented communities).
Region 6 did a survey and found that most groups consisted of white women. They found some groups were more diversified, depending on their location.
IDEAS PRESENTED: more literature in other languages, posters in other languages.
Perhaps bilingual people who could start a meeting.
Suggested that we keep open to opportunities for diversity and outreach.
Post information about OA on the bulletin board in addressStreetMason Square.
Put flyers we have at present out to more communities. Include a meeting list of meetings in that area.
New Business: Mary may be doing an interview with Channel 40? She will make the diversity issue a part of the interview.
Suggestion to advertise on a bus. $ may be obtained from Region 6. This will be part of the PI Blitz Dan is doing.
Suggestion to poster community centers.
In the placeMarathon survey, about 5 members heard about OA from a doctor or professional.
Treasury: to be done: Budget '07, Avdit '06, Report for January.
$50 available for new meeting - includes literature, start-up costs, etc.
We have received 6 Genesis Retreat registrations!
'08 placeMarathon: Lyn and John suggest meeting 1x/month, that we stay at the same church, and co-chairs for this committee. Motion was passed that Lyn and John will book the church now for next year. Motion was also passed that we give the church $100, rather than $50 (It was more than $200 for the previous church).
Lyn will put information on CD.
Motion passed to ask groups if anyone would like to co-chair the placeMarathon.
placeMarathon is always 1st Saturday in January.
Contract for placeSt. David's will be set up by outgoing chairs.
Terry made motion to pay rent to hospital ahead of time, rather than playing catch-up. Motion passed. January and February paid.
We discussed looking over the bylaws and updating them. We discussed how often this should be done…every 2 years? The committee will be Jeff, John, JoAnne, and Martin. Motion made to develop this committee which will report to Intergroup in a timely fashionJ

The placeCityLongmeadow meeting will be celebrating their 31st anniversary!
The Friday, Source of Hope 100+ meeting in Southwick is a year old!
